Knipex 88 01 400 vízpumpafogó

The Knipex 88 01 400 Alligator XL tongue-and-groove pliers combine the gripping performance of water pump pliers with a lighter construction and increased opening capacity. At 400 mm length they weigh 1.19 kg and offer a gripping capacity up to 3 1/2" (maximum pipe diameter about 90 mm and maximum nut size about 95 mm), making them suitable for a wide range of gripping and turning tasks in workshop and outdoor environments.

Advantages

Robust forged chrome vanadium electric steel construction with oil hardening provides high strength and durability while remaining relatively light. The box-joint design with double guide increases stability. Hardened teeth (approx. 61 HRC) on the gripping surfaces ensure high wear resistance and a secure grip. A guard prevents finger pinching and the self-locking action on pipes and nuts reduces slipping and handforce required. The tool features an 11-position adjustment mechanism with a robust, dirt-insensitive adjustment that is easy to clean.

Suitable for

• Gripping and turning pipes up to approximately 90 mm diameter
• Holding and turning nuts up to approximately 95 mm
• Outdoor and construction work where dirt resistance is required
• General workshop maintenance and plumbing tasks

How to use

Open the pliers to the required adjustment position and place the jaws onto the pipe or nut. Ensure the gripping surfaces contact the workpiece squarely, then apply hand force to turn or hold the component. Use the 11-position adjustment to match the jaw opening precisely to the workpiece size. After use, wipe off dirt and debris from the joint and adjustment mechanism to maintain smooth operation.

Recommendations

For safe and long-lasting operation, avoid using the pliers as a hammer or cutting tool, periodically clean the adjustment mechanism when used in dirty environments, and lubricate the joint lightly if movement becomes stiff. Choose the correct jaw position to minimize hand effort and prevent slipping.
