ROLINE 21.13.1188 Gigabit PoE+ extender

The ROLINE Gigabit PoE+ Extender 21.13.1188 is a two-port Gigabit Power over Ethernet extender designed to increase connection distance by an additional 100 m on both ends when used with Cat‑5e or better cabling. Compact and lightweight, it supports IEEE 802.3af/at standards and draws its own power via PoE, eliminating the need for an external power supply. The extender comes in a metal enclosure and can be mounted on a wall for flexible installation.

Advantages

This PoE extender provides transparent power and data extension up to 100 m per segment, supports cascading multiple extenders to cover longer distances, and is PoE‑aware to detect whether a connected device requires IEEE 802.3at power or only data. No special networking cable or additional power adapter is required; existing Cat‑5e or Cat‑6 cabling can be used to deliver both power and data to compliant devices.

Suitable for

• Extending PoE network links for IP cameras
• Connecting wireless access points at a distance from switches
• Powering and networking VoIP phones or other IEEE 802.3af/at devices
• Cascading extenders to reach remote network devices in buildings or outdoor enclosures

Key specifications

• Model: ROLINE 21.13.1188
• Ports: 1x Gigabit (10/100/1000) input, 1x Gigabit (10/100/1000) output
• PoE standards: IEEE 802.3af / IEEE 802.3at (PoE+)
• Extension distance: +100 m per segment over Cat‑5e or better
• Power consumption: approx. 2 W (powered via PoE)
• Weight: 98–100 g
• Dimensions (H × W × D): 20 × 32 × 123 mm
• Enclosure: Metal; wall mountable

How to use

Connect the upstream PoE switch or PoE injector to the input Gigabit port using Cat‑5e or Cat‑6 cable. Connect the output Gigabit port to the powered device or to the next extender in the chain. The extender will draw power from the input PoE source and pass power and data to the output port, extending the reach by about 100 m per extender without requiring a local power supply.

Recommendations

To achieve reliable power and data over longer distances, use Cat‑5e or Cat‑6 cables in good condition, observe the 100 m segment limit for each extender, and verify that the upstream PoE source can supply sufficient power for cascaded extenders and connected devices.
