Behringer C-2 DARK EDITION mikrofon

The Behringer C-2 DARK EDITION is a matched pair of small-diaphragm condenser microphones developed for studio recording and project-studio applications. With a frequency response spanning 20 Hz to 20 kHz, these microphones are designed to capture vocals and a wide range of acoustic and amplified instruments with clarity. The set emphasizes high sensitivity and low self-noise to preserve detail, while the compact, durable construction simplifies placement in close-miking and room-miking setups.

Advantages

The pair offers consistent matched performance for stereo recording, ensuring similar frequency balance and sensitivity between capsules. High sensitivity and low self-noise support detailed capture of subtle dynamics and overtones. Their compact design and sturdy build allow flexible positioning on stands, booms, or instrument mounts without occupying excessive space in the recording area. The broad frequency response and condenser capsule characteristics provide a natural transient response suitable for both vocal and instrument sources.

Suitable for

• Stereo recording of acoustic guitar and stringed instruments
• Overhead miking for drum kits and percussion
• Room or ambient microphone pairs for ensemble recordings
• Close-miking of piano, acoustic instruments, and amplifiers
• Vocal recording in controlled studio environments

Key specifications

• Type: Small-diaphragm condenser microphones (matched pair)
• Frequency response: 20 Hz – 20 kHz
• Sensitivity: High (suitable for low-level sources and detail capture)
• Self-noise: Low, designed to preserve signal detail
• Polar pattern: Cardioid (typical for this microphone class)
• Construction: Compact and durable metal housing for studio use

How to use

Position the C-2 DARK EDITION pair according to the desired stereo technique (spaced pair, XY variant if applicable, or matched spaced omnis substituted by appropriate positioning). Connect each microphone to a preamplifier or audio interface with phantom power enabled, as condenser operation requires 48V phantom power. Place the microphones at an appropriate distance and angle from the sound source to balance direct sound and room ambience; small adjustments in placement will affect brightness, proximity, and stereo image. Monitor levels to avoid clipping and use padding or preamp gain adjustments if available when recording loud sources.

Recommendations

Use these microphones in acoustically treated or controlled environments for best results. For live room captures, experiment with distance and angle to manage room reflections. When recording quiet sources, employ low-noise preamps and maintain proper gain staging. Store the microphones in protective cases when not in use to preserve capsule alignment and housing integrity.
